Crossville is home to the Sand Mountain Research and Extension Center, part of  Auburn University's Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station.  The 536 acre center was established in 1929 to focus on Agronomic crops and beef cattle research.

Crossville is also home to Nursery farms that produce trees, plants and shrubbery for use across the southeastern United States.
